Diving in Cozumel



Cozumel is loacated approximately 560 miles southwest of Miami,Florida. The island lies twelve miles off the east coast of the Yucatan Penninsula.It is 28 miles long and 11 miles wide.

Daytime Temperatures are Mid to Upper 80's, often reaching into the 90's.Average water temperature is in the 80's. Visibility averages around 100 ft. but can reach 200.

There are many dive sites that include shallow and deep reefs, walls, caves and shipwrecks. This translates into good diving year round.

Cozumel is known for its legendary drift dives. Most popular are the Palancar, Columbia, Santa Rosa, and Maracaibo walls. Typically the reef slopes down to the 40-60 ft. range then drops to depths of 1000 ft or more. Two other popular spots are the airplane wreck near the LaCeiba Hotel, and Chancanab Reef at Chancanab Park.

In Cozumel waters you can find Hammerhead; Bull; Nurse; Lemon and Tiger; Sharks, Spotted Eagle Rays, Manta Rays, Toadfish, Moray Eels, Groupers,and all kinds of reef fish. You will also find multicoulored sponges, hard and soft coral, and sea fans.

You will need to have either a Canadian passport or birth certificate along with tourist card. U.S. passport ,or proof of citizenship along with tourist card.
